The current fight from Gaza to Jerusalem
The oppression of Palestinians under Israeli rule is not just about land; it’s about erasing the very identity and knowledge of a people. This deliberate campaign of censorship, violence, and displacement is aimed at not only maintaining control but at wiping out the memory and history of Palestinians.
What is happening across all of Palestine right now are different strategies but part and parcel of the same straightforward and century-long plan by the Zionist movement. Take the land of Palestine and erase the Palestinian people.
Erasing Palestinian Knowledge
One of the most effective ways to control a people is by controlling their access to knowledge and their ability to produce it.
This is why Israel has systematically targeted Palestinian educational institutions, from schools to universities, and even cultural spaces like bookstores. In Gaza, Israeli forces have raided, bombed, and burned Palestinian schools and universities, undermining the ability of the next generation to learn and grow.
Most recently, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) raided the Educational Bookshop in Jerusalem, detained its owners, and confiscated books.
These acts are not just about destroying physical spaces; they are about erasing the Palestinian narrative and suppressing the voices that keep our history alive.
Demolishing Homes and Displacing Families
Across Palestine, from Silwan in Jerusalem to Masafer Yatta and Hebron (Al Khalil), Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes on a daily basis. Simultaneously, Jewish-only settlements expand, turning the landscape into a colonial project aimed at displacing Palestinians.
This ongoing campaign is a systematic effort to ethnically cleanse Palestinians and replace them with Israeli settlers. Demolishing homes is not just a violation of human rights; it’s a direct assault on the Palestinian way of life, as families are uprooted and forced into displacement.
Terrorising Palestinian Communities
Israeli-backed settler militias, armed and protected by the Israeli army, routinely attack Palestinian communities. These militias burn villages, destroy olive groves, and physically assault Palestinians. With the complicity of the Israeli army, settlers are emboldened to steal land, destroy property, and continue annexing more of the West Bank.
The military arms them, protects them, and legalizes their land theft. This coordinated violence is a strategic tactic to undermine Palestinian presence and claims to their land, further pushing the agenda of colonization and ethnic cleansing.
Conducting Massacres and Starving People
What is happening in Gaza is nothing short of genocide. The Israeli state has waged a campaign of mass massacres, extermination, forced starvation, and the destruction of basic infrastructure like water and electricity.
These tactics are designed to accelerate the erasure of the Palestinian population, making survival increasingly difficult and pushing those who remain to leave and never return.
The ultimate aim is to crush the ability of Palestinians to resist, organize, and assert their political rights.
Destroying Refugees Camps Forcing Palestinians’ displacement
Israel is also working to force the repeated displacement of Palestinian refugees, many of whom are descendants of those who were forced off their land in 1948. Refugee camps, once places of refuge, are now targets for destruction, as Israel seeks to erase the very notion of Palestinian return.
Over 40,000 Palestinians in the West Bank alone have been displaced in the past three months. Cities like Jenin, Tulkarem, Qalqilya, Nablus, Masafer Yatta, and Hebron are under constant siege, with regular military raids aimed at destabilizing communities and preventing any semblance of resistance.
These tactics are part of a broader effort to turn Palestinian cities and refugee camps into ghost towns, ensuring that Palestinians can never return to their homes.
Silencing Palestinians with Israeli citizenship
The suppression of Palestinian voices is not limited to those living under occupation. Palestinians who hold Israeli citizenship, often referred to as “Arab Israelis,” have long faced systemic discrimination.
In recent months, this oppression has intensified, particularly since October 2023, when there has been an escalation in arbitrary detentions. Dozens of activists have been arbitrarily detained without charge or trial, placed in what Israel calls “administrative detention.”
This practice, which does not apply to Jewish citizens, is part of a broader effort to depoliticise and crush the identity of Palestinians living within the 1948 borders.
Fragmenting Palestinian society
Palestinians are a single, united people. Yet Israel’s actions aim to fragment and divide them across Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the rest of historic Palestine.
The destruction of cities like Jenin and Tulkarem, the suffocation of Gaza, and the increasing settler violence all serve to dismantle Palestinian political, social, and territorial continuity. By depopulating these areas, Israel seeks to make Palestinian self-determination impossible.
The Israeli State’Agenda has always been about:
At the core of Israel’s policies is a clear and deliberate agenda:
- Eliminating Palestinian identity and presence
- Taking control over all Palestinian land and resources
- Expanding Jewish-only control
Every attack, every raid, every siege follows this same pattern. This is not war—it is colonisation.
